DrillBits Installation

DrillBits Web Installer

    Web Installer Notes
    Macintosh Users: Do not accept the certificate and be sure to read the installation instructions for your platform before starting the download.

    Netscape Users: Netscape does not allow the Web Installer to automatically install DrillBits, please read the below installation instructions for your computer.

    Internet Explorer Users: If you accepted the signature for the Web Installer click the "Download Installer for..." button to download and run the installer for your platform.
    The installer will download, there will be a pause while it decompresses. Depending on your internet connection and computer speed this may take from a few seconds to a few minutes. Shortly you will see the installer start and you will be prompted for the install location--click the next button to select the default. After the installation is complete you may start the application on a Macintosh by double clicking it's icon or on Windows systems by selecting DrillBits from the DrillBits folder in the Start Menu.
    If you did not accept the signature then the Web Install will not automatically install DrillBits, please read the below installation instructions for your computer.

Windows Instructions:

    Instructions

    • If your browser does not allow the Web Installer to automatically install DrillBits. Click the "Download Installer..." button to download the installer for your platform, or use one of these links: Drillbits with VM or Drillbits w/o VM. After downloading, double-click DrillBits_Installer.exe


    Notes

    • If you do not have a Java virtual machine installed, be sure to download the package above which includes one or use this link Drillbits with VM

Mac OS

    Classic (8.1 or greater) Instructions:

    • If your browser does not allow the Web Installer to automatically install DrillBits, click the "Download Installer..." button to download the installer for your platform, or use this link: Drillbits. After downloading the archive should automatically expand. You may move the Classic Drillbits Folder to your Applications (Mac OS 9) folder.


    Notes

    • Requires PowerPC and Mac OS 8.1 or later
    • If you do not have a Java virtual machine installed, be sure to download the package above which includes one.
    • The installer is MacBinary encoded and will be automatically decoded after downloading.
      If it does not, you can decode it using StuffIt Expander 4.5 or later

    There is currently a problem with the application running on Macintosh computers running OS 9 _only_ this does not effect OS X users able to run classic applications. Your Instructor will be informed when the OS 9 version is working and ready for download. If you are running OS X follow the instructions for OS X.

    OS X Instructions:

    • The installer does not function properly in auto-install mode on OS X. You may download the archive. After downloading the archive should automatically expand. You may move the Classic Drillbits Folder to your Applications (Mac OS 9) folder.


    Notes

    • Currently DrillBits runs in classic mode only.
