Using DrillBits

Typing Special Characters

DrillBits serves as an study aid for your language course. DrillBits is used to view sets of language drills complied by your instructor.

In Short
  • Open DrillBits.
  • Select your course.
  • DrillBits by default opens a collection and set of drill items.

The first drill displays the instructions for that set of drill items. Enter the correct answer and you are presented with the next item. You are allowed three attempts to answer a given drill item, answer correctly and you are presented with the next drill item, answer incorrectly three times and you are presented with the correct answer which you should enter to proceed to the next drill item. Three indicators in the lower right of the DrillBits window display answer status—red = incorrect, green = correct. You may at any time use the View menus to request a hint if one is provided, the correct answer, or give up.
  • You may review instructions at anytime by clicking on the instructions tab, clicking on it a second time will close the tab.
  • A status bar at the bottom of the DrillBits window displays your progress through a drill set.
  • Upon completion of a set of drill items you will advance to the next set.
  • You may change drill sets and collections by clicking on the tab labeled with your course.

The current collection will be open and the current set will be highlighted. Clicking on a set in an open collection folder will load that set. Clicking the key next to a collection folder will open that collection—only after selecting a set in a different collection you may then close the current collection.
  • You may quit DrillBits at anytime.

Currrently DrillBits requires a network connection, either modem or ethernet, to function properly.
