How to Log On
DartMOO has been optimized to use Kerberos and SideCar as its primary means of logging into your MOO account. If you are visiting the MOO for the first time you will be assigned an account when connecting; you will be sent an email containing your MOO account UserID and Password for use when obtaining a Kerberos ticket is impossible. On subsequent visits you will be logged on directly when connecting with a Kerberos ticket. First get a ticket (you may already have one if you use kerberos to sign onto Blitzmail). If you do not have a ticket you may get one by clicking the closed lock on your menubar (Mac) or taskbar (Win). To test your Kerberos installation go to Using Kerberos at Dartmouth and click the Testing your Installation link.

Once you have confirmed your Kerberos installation and have a ticket you may proceed to log on.

Log On
You may access DartMOO in one of two ways. You may use your web browser or a non-web client. We recommend using either MacMoose or WinMoose for your client. Instructions for downloading and setting up the client are provided here. You may also access DartMOO using a web browser.

Using Your Web Browser
You may use Netscape Communicator 4.08 or later, or Internet Explorer 4.0 (4.5 on Macs) or later. Cookies, Java, and Javascript must be enabled. For more information you may read the enCore Xpress FAQ.

To log on using your web browser and a Kerberos ticket visit http://dartmoo.dartmouth.edu:7000 and you will be logged onto the MOO. If you do not have a ticket and have never logged on before (you have no account) you may enter as a guest. If you do not have a ticket and have logged on with one previously (you have a MOO account) you will need to enter your MOO account information into the login form on the dartmoo login screen.
DO NOT USE YOUR DND INFO ON THE LOGIN PAGE.

Using MacMOOSE and WinMOOSE
Step One:

Download the software.
MacMOOSE, for the Macintosh Platform
WinMOOSE, for the Windows Platform
Step Two:

On starting MacMoose you will need to configure it for DartMOO.
Note! Moose Crossing IS NOT DartMOO.
Select Open Mud from the file menu, click the 'NEW' button, and configure as shown in the image below. You will now have a new item in the list of MOOs that is displayed when you select Open Mud.

Step Three:

Click open.
If you have a Kerberos ticket do not fill in any of the information in the connection dialog when prompted. Instead click leave the dialog blank and click the connect button.

If you do not have a Kerberos ticket you must log on to DartMOO using your username and password assigned to you. You must type in your username and password exactly as you see it. They are both Caps Sensitive; meaning if your password has a capital letter in it, you must type it as a capital letter when logging on. For example, ruBaRB. No spaces are allowed. Take note of the underscore. For example, John_J._Jingle.

If you have any problems logging on quit and try again. After a second try if you are still having difficulties let us know.
